FAQ

1. How do I enroll in online classes at Allen?

2.  When can I access my classes? 

Go to Blackboard to access your classes. One month before classes begin, students may take the free mini course, but the classes will open mid-morning of the first day of class.              

 3. What browser should I use?  

Before logging in, scroll down below the Password area to see the Operating System requirements for using Blackboard. Determine which browser fits your computer best.

5. What is my login?

Your ID number is your Allen Student ID#  Your password is the first four letters [lowercase] of your last name and the last four digits of your Social Security #. (We call this your 4x4). If you do not have a Social Security number on file with us, use 9999 instead.

6.  What if I have never taken an online class?

Approximately 30 days before your class starts you may begin the Online Student Orientation. This course was designed to equip Online Learner's to navigate the classes and be familiar with the Blackboard format. While not mandatory, it is full of valuable information! 

7. How do I access my student e-mail? 

Students at Allen have a portal which connects them to their Allen e-mail account. It is located in myAllen as My Allen Office Account in the lower portion of the Home page. You will use your Allen e-mail to receive emails from your instructors, staff or others. You may set up a forward to another e-mail account.  To ensure you are receiving these important e-mails check your Allen email frequently. There is a “help” button next to the link for more information.

8. How do I set up a forward from my Allen e-mail to my personal e-mail? 

To set up forwarding: 

Log into Allen email using your Allen email address and password
Click blue box that says Mail
Click on the Gear icon in the upper-right corner, and select "Options" from the drop-down menu
Look down the menu on the left and select "Forwarding."
Select "Start Forwarding", and enter your other email address in the box provided, and click "Save."
Messages will now forward to the other account and important communications from the College and students will arrive in both accounts.

Below you will find information on logging onto library databases, using academic sources, and contacting the writing center at Allen. If you have any technical issues or need assistance you can always contact the library.


When you find a book you need that we have in our library, you can ask your local library to request the book from Allen College Library through Inter-Library Loan.  Ask them to include your Name, Phone Number, and Student ID in the notes field. We will check the item out to you, send it to your library, and you can pick it up and return it there.
